Admission to Bowie State University is granted to all applicants who meet the University’s admission standards. For first time students, grade point average, SAT/ACT scores and counselor recommendations are factors in the admissions process.

You should submit the following to be considered for admission:
  • A completed application form with non-refundable $40.00 application fee
  • Official high school transcripts forwarded directly from your high school to the Office of Admissions
  • Official tests scores from either the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) or American College Testing Program (ACT) sent to the Office of Admissions. We will accept SAT or ACT scores from an official high school transcript.
    **On-line printouts of test scores will not be accepted**

    The college code for Bowie State University is 5401.

    It is strongly recommended that the SAT and/or ACT be taken as early as possible.
    • The January (SAT) test or February (ACT) test are generally the last acceptable examinations for fall applicants.
    •  Applicants who have not taken the tests may obtain information and materials about test registration from:
           Guidance office of their secondary school;
           College Entrance Examination Board, P.O. Box 592,
                   Princeton, New Jersey 08540 (SAT); or
           ACT Eastern Regional Office, Pine West Plaza IV,
                   Washington Avenue Extension,
                    Albany, New York 12205-5510.
  • The submission of an essay and letters of recommendation is optional; however if submitted, they will be considered and can have a positive impact on your admission decision.
