The Office of Financial Aid offers financial assistance to students in the form of federal and state programs that provide scholarships, grants, loans and work study to assist eligible students in pursuing their academic goals.  Financial Aid Counseling is available to families regarding educational cost and financial aid opportunities available to meet these costs. Students who need assistance with college costs should apply for financial aid. While most financial aid is need-based, meaning students must demonstrate financial need, merit-based aid is also available. Financial aid for students attending Bowie State University can be obtained from four different sources: the federal government (FAFSA) the state government (deadline JUNE 29) institutional need-based funds (deadline March 1) private resources (deadline varies depending on individual awards) Students who wish to apply for the Bowie State University Institutional Need-Based Aid should complete and submit the FAFSA by MARCH 1. Awards are made on a first come first serve basis.  Students who wish to apply for Bowie State University Institutional Scholarship should complete and submit the Scholarship Application by April 15, 2008.      2007-2008 IMPORTANT FINANCIAL AID DEADLINES January 1st                       2007-2008 Free Application for Federal Student Aid Application (FAFSA) available (Fall 07, Spring 08) Apply for PIN www.pin.ed.gov Apply on-line www.fafsa.ed.gov  March 1st Maryland Higher Education Commission           Complete the FAFSA for earlier notification of financial aid awards for federal, state and institutional aid.  Maryland residents must complete the FAFSA no later than March 1.   March 1st Priority date to submit FAFSA for full consideration of all aid for Bowie State University   June 29th To apply for the DC OneApp you must go on-line to www.seo.dc.gov and you must have on-line  cmpleted a FAFSA on-line at www.fafsa.ed.gov   June 1st Financial Aid Office must receive your valid processed Student Aid Report in order to receive pending Financial Aid for          tuition and fees.  If you are selected for verification you must submit all required documentation by this date.   December 1st  Fall-07         Final deadline date to submit FAFSA for consideration of aid for Bowie State University Bowie Card Information If you have a credit balance on your bill, you may transfer your credit to your Bowie Card to cover your book expenses.  Proceed to the Bowie Card Office- Wiseman Center - Room 118.  Bowie Card credit not to exceed $850.00 per semester.
