The Division of Student Affairs

On behalf of the staff in Student Affairs, I want you to know that it’s a great day to be a BULLDOG! I welcome you to Bowie State University because it will be the doorway through which you will pass to many more achievements.

The Division of Student Affairs at Bowie State University is dedicated to supporting a community of scholars, providing a strong foundation for co-curricular learning, promoting personal growth, and providing opportunities for students to develop life-long skills. The division strives to foster in students a sense of citizenship, leadership, and social responsibility.  As you become part of the community, you will find out through various means and vehicles that co-curricular learning is a meaningful and significant complement to the academic program. We are dedicated to providing a safe and secure living and learning community, which engages each student in intentional and deliberate co-curricular experiences.
 
The division operates a broadbased program that reflects the philosophy of Bowie State University … where we provide the skills and tools for each of our students to “prepare for life.”  Each student has the opportunity to become a Bowie man or a Bowie woman.

The Division of Student Affairs comprises the following service areas: Center for Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs, Campus Safety, Career, Co-Op, and International Student Services, Counseling Services, Student Life (Commuter Programs, Intramural Programs, Orientation, Student Leadership, Student Clubs and Organizations, and the Student Government Association), Residential Life, Judicial Programs and Mediation, the Wiseman Student Centre’, and the Henry Wise Wellness Center.

I strongly encourage you to participate in the life of the Bowie State University community and to celebrate its rich history of being the place where you “prepare for life.”  Take advantage of the varied opportunities to learn from the wealth of knowledge and experiences of your classmates, your top notched faculty, and your fellow community members.
