The Office of Student Life is part of the dynamic student services team in Student
Affairs. We primarily provide activities and programs that complement students'
academic experience. Programs include, but are not limited to, lectures, speakers,
panel discussions, cultural fairs and festivals, awareness days, and concerts.
Additionally, we are responsible for the coordination and implementation of
Leadership Programs, Commuter Affairs and Community Service, Intramural &
Recreation Sport Program and New Student Orientation. Our office prides itself in
being able to work directly with the students of Bowie State University.

This Office advises the Student Government Association, which is the voice for all
undergraduate students, clubs, and organizations. It is our belief that students must
be actively involved in campus life in order to get the full benefits of the college
experience. Student involvement should be meaningful and should provide students
in a developmental way opportunity to grow, develop, and express themselves. In
other words, we want to make sure that you have FUN at Bowie State University.

The Office of Student Life coexists as an integral part of the educational process at
Bowie State University. Our primary focus is to provide high quality programs and
activities that compliment the in-class experiences of all students.

It is our belief that these programs must be intentional in an effort to connect the
students with the University as well as foster student involvement. We are grounded
in student development theory and use this as a concerted means to assist students
in achieving their educational goals.

We are committed to providing students with opportunities to learn in non-traditional
ways that aid their growth and development, while supporting the traditional education
that is learned in the classroom.

As an extension of the education process, it is the vision of the Office of Student Life to
provide educational, cultural, social, vocational, recreational and spiritual opportunities
and services, that are responsive to the developmental, personal and professional
needs of the Students at Bowie State University.
