The Official Shared Governance bodies at Bowie State University (BSU) are the Faculty Council, Staff Council, Student Government Association, and Graduate Student Association. These bodies have officially recognized constitutions and By-laws that express the subject matter and organizational procedures for their respective groups. Their constituencies elect the presiding officers to each of the shared governance bodies. Additionally, these bodies meet the criteria that at least 75% of the voting members are elected by their constituencies. The Shared Governance constitution of the Faculty Council addresses a role for non-tenured, non-tenure track, and part-time faculty as required by the University System of Maryland Board of Regents Policy. The President of BSU consults regularly with elected representatives of the shared governance bodies in the monthly meeting of the University Council.
