New Student Orientation Spring 2008
Dear New Student:
Congratulations on being accepted to Bowie State University for the Spring 2008 semester. The Student Life staff looks forward to meeting you during the New Student Orientation (NSO). NSO is designed to encourage students to take full advantage of University programs and services; assist students in achieving maximum academic, personal and career development; familiarize students with University regulations and policies; and provide the opportunity to meet with faculty, staff and peer leaders. The NSO is committed to making the students’ transition to Bowie State University as smooth as possible.

New Student Orientation 2008 will take place on Friday, January 25, 2008. Both Freshmen and Transfer Incoming Students will attend this one-day session. All students must register online for the session. The New Student Orientation fee of $125 will be billed to your student account bill automatically.
If you are unable to make the scheduled Orientation Program please contact Ms. Sharon Glaster, Program and Special Events Coordinator at sglaster@bowiestate.edu.

Please make sure to check your Junk Email folder as well due to the large content of the message. Make sure to bring with you the following signed consent forms: FERPA and Informed Consent Form.

Placement testing is coordinated through the Student Success and Retention Center (SSRC). You should schedule placement testing prior to attending the New Student Orientation. If you have any questions regarding placement testing or advising, please call the SSRC at 301.860.3295.
GETTING TO BSU!
From Baltimore using 295 - Take the Baltimore/Washington Parkway (Rte. 295) south to the Laurel-Bowie exit Rte. 197 towards Bowie. Watch for signs marking Bowie State University. Left at stoplight which is Jericho Park Road. (approximately 6 miles from B/W Pkwy. to Bowie State University on the left).
From Interstate 95 -Take interstate 95 to exit 19A (Rte. 50 east). Proceed east on Rte. 50, take exit 11 North (left to Bowie). Follow Rte. 197 for six miles to the signs marking Bowie State University and Jericho Park Road. (Bowie State University on the right.)
From Washington D.C.- Travel on New York Ave./Rte 50 east and take the exit 11 North left towards Bowie. Follow Rte. 197 for six miles to the signs marking Bowie State University and Jericho Park Road. Turn right on to Jericho Park Road.
Rail service to BSU- AMTRAK , MARC and Metro trains may be taken from the Union Station Metro stop in Washington, D.C. to the New Carrollton Metro (orange line) stop in Maryland. From New Carrollton you may take a metro bus or continue on the MARC train directly to the campus. MARC may also be taken from Baltimore at Penn Station, Camden Yards or West Baltimore.
